Dr. Nigel Jackson – Osteopath – completed a bachelor of Clinical Science (Majoring in Human Structure and Function and Osteopathic Studies) and a Masters of Osteopathic Medicine at Lismore, SCU. He has been working on the Gold Coast for the past few years before coming to treat at Optimum Wellbeing Centre. He is also a dry needling practitioner.
Nigel was born and raised on the family farm at Yatala, Gold Coast. He comes from a family of holistic medicine practitioners as both his parents and grandparents were Chiropractors/Herbalists. His understanding is that each patient is unique and therefore requires their own treatment plan to be able to reach their desired goals.
Nigel has a real love for helping other people. This grew after he was diagnosed with childhood leukaemia and lymphoma at the start of high school. Although missing out on a large part of high school due to his illness Nigel pursued a secondary education as he wanted a career in which he could help others and treat holistically, helping the body find its natural balance and heal fully. He studied with drive and determination whilst also still recovering from his previous treatment to achieve his qualifications and become an Osteopath.
The trials and challenges he experienced whilst young has resulted in Nigel’s aptitude in treating children. He enjoys treating newborns, children and pre/post pregnancy. He also specialises in knee pain and knee issues.
Nigel’s passion is to give back, not only by working as an osteopath but volunteering for Make-A-Wish Australia. He enjoys capturing children’s most cherished wish and recreating it as best as possible. He has helped bring many wishes true from constructing a Star Wars cubby house to helping a 9-year-old swim with sharks.
Nigel enjoys bushwalking and camping with his partner Natasha who works as a paediatric occupational therapist.
He was also a master cheesemaker on his family’s goat farm. His father would milk the goats, Nigel would make the cheese and then sell it at local markets. All products were organic and included no additives or preservatives, he continues to do this as a hobby in his spare time.
