If you’ve had Lower Back Pain you most probably have heard of Builders Back. Osteopaths commonly see builders presenting with common complaints. Keep reading below to find out more.

Osteopaths will treat at least one case of lower back pain every day. It is one of the most common reasons that a people will seek hands on treatment for their pain. This ailment can be both acute or chronic and have local or referred pain.

Builders rely on their bodies to earn a wage. They are constantly using tools, bending over and picking items up which over time can cause strains, wear and tear or damage structures in their back.

A common cause for lower back issues in builders is either irritation or damage to the lumber discs. Pain can range from referral down one or both legs whilst walking to not being able to get out of bed.

What can osteopathy do for my back?

Whilst osteopathy cannot fix your bodies disc’s, they may decrease the bodies fight or flight response and decrease pain in the surrounding structures such as muscles and joints which may allow the body to heal faster than simply resting

Treatment for disc pain would start off with treatments twice a week and then spacing that out as the pain decreased. A hands-on approach would be used and home exercises would be given to help improve any joint stability.

Dr Nigel enjoys treating lower back complaints and would happy to answer any questions.
